What to expect?

We would like to provide you with detailed information regarding your stay at Umnya Dune Camp in Morocco.

Accessibility: Umnya Dune Camp is situated in Erg Chigaga and can only be accessed by 4x4. The nearest cities include Marrakech (9 hours from Umnya), Skoura/Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou (6 hours 30 minutes from Umnya), Ouarzazate (5 hours 30 minutes from Umnya), Agdz (4 hours from Umnya), Zagora city (3 hours from Umnya), Foum Zguid (2 hours 30 minutes from Umnya), and Mhamid EL Ghizlane (1 hour 30 minutes from Umnya), Agadir or Fez (12 hours from Umnya).

Travel Logistics: The closest airport is Zagora OZG and there are direct flights from Casablanca Mohamed V Airport. Helicopter and private jet services are available upon request. Please note that transportation from/to airports and cities will incur additional costs. It is important to note that the camp is located in the Sahara desert and requires advanced planning and preparation for each reservation. The best season to visit is from September to June.

Camp Amenities: The camp does not have running water or electricity in order to maintain its ecological aspects. The common area includes a 50sqm LilyRose Restaurant, fire camp area, library tent, Chichah (Hookah) area, and a Berber set-up tent. The camp is located in the middle of the dunes for a truly magical experience. Fresh water is brought to the camp twice a week and used for drinking and food preparation. The camp has a kitchen and offers a range of local dishes including vegetarians or Gluten free. Solar batteries are available for charging devices, and while there is Wi-Fi available in the camp, there is no Wi-Fi in the tents. Payment by card or through a cash machine is not available in the camp. Snakes and scorpions are rare in the region but may appear during warmer temperatures in July and August, particularly near water sources (oasis).

Tent Accommodations: Each tent is separated by a dune for privacy and has its own private terrace, bathroom with shower and eco toilet, and a set of toiletries. The canvas tents range from 32 to 44 sqm in size and bedding is of high standard. Warm or cold showers can be requested 30 minutes in advance. The compost toilets are ecological and cleaned twice a day. The tents are elevated on a wooden platform for added comfort and security and are heated during the winter.

Please keep in mind that conditions in the desert can change at any time and it is important to be prepared for an unforgettable experience.
